Jedi Master Obi Wan Kenobi by adavesseth Jedi Master Obi Wan Kenobi by adavesseth
Drawn from a reference photo from Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones.

Took about 5 hours.
Slightly alternative from the way I usually draw, a bit more grainy, even a totally new paper!

Aprox. size 12 x 13 cm. Pencils 2H to 3B + mechanical pencil. Finished 28. May -05.

Hehe, yes, he's missing a lot isn't he? I originally intended to cut off his chin too, but that looked so stupid, so I needed to have that in there, at least.
Ah, facial hair... Not my favourite. But it needs to be done.

Hehe, well it seems there's enough of people trying to tell me what to do and not, and obviously it doesn't help... So to save you for that effort, I'll just say "sure, I'll take good care of them", then you can believe it if you want. :D

soo lovely. it's pretty funny though - same thing happened to me, my artist's block ended yesterday, and I started a Star Wars series. I was going to draw Obi-Wan first (although I think I was going to draw Alec Guinness' Obi-Wan). How bizarre would that have been?

I love your stuff.

Hehe, my artist block didn't end yesterday, though. I did this one about a week ago. But don't mind, we'll forget that.
Star Wars makes many want to draw, it seems. Not that that's a bad thing! :p
Good luck on your series, I'll keep an eye open.

Hehe, I have one "secret", a page called
[link]
has a lot of *large* pictures from different movies, and that's what we need isn't it? It's in swiss or something, though, but if you know german, it's fine.

Oh, yes, the ref I had was brilliant. Not everyday you experience that.

Hehe!
Try the "Suchbegriff" at the bottom left side. That's search. It rearches on english movie titles. And then "Bilder" on the right side when you've come to a movie, that's images.

Amazing to the max. I'm trying to get a better handle on drawing real people. the most difficult seems to be the perportions, especially of the face. Also trying to get away from the "lines" around things, getting everything to merge into each other. You obviously have something of a grasp on these things, so any advice you might have would be very muchly appreciated!

Well, it's not really so many tips to give. Since you draw people, try to find a book about anatomy. You don't need to study it down to the last nerve, but a general idea about where things are is always good. The proportions likewise, it's many books about the subject. I have some pages I printed out of the internet that are really helpful that shows the male and female proportions.
On the lines, the "trick" is to shade. Shade everything, not only the shadow.
The most helpful tip is practice. It sounds dull, perhaps, but that's the way to learn to draw. Noone got good over the night, normally it takes many years, and you never stop learning. And that's an encouraging thought...
